Testing is the work that protects everything else
A pattern that reads perfectly to the person who designed it can stop a stranger on round eleven. Testers are how you find that out while it is still cheap to fix, rather than in a refund request or a public review.
The testing itself is rarely the hard part. Running it is. A call goes out in a group, applications arrive by message, feedback comes back as photos in one place and comments in another, and by the time you sit down to revise, half of what you were told has to be reassembled from memory.

How a tester call runs
1. Post the call
Submit the pattern you want tested with its difficulty and what you need checked. It goes up for other makers to see.
2. Choose who tests it
Crocheters apply, and you approve or decline each one. You decide who works on your unreleased design.
3. Read the feedback in place
Testers submit their notes against the pattern being tested, so nothing has to be reconstructed from messages later.
4. Build a reputation, both ways
Completed tests earn reviewer standing, so careful testers become easy to find, and designers know who they are inviting.

What is a tester call in crochet?
A tester call is an open invitation for other crocheters to make your pattern before you sell it, and to tell you what was unclear, what did not add up, and what the finished piece actually looked like. It is the last check between your draft and a paying customer, and the cheapest place to find a mistake.
How many testers does an amigurumi pattern need?
Three to five is usually enough for one design. What matters more than the count is the mix: at least one experienced designer who will spot technical inconsistencies, and at least one maker at the level you are selling to, who will show you which assumptions only make sense inside your own head.
How do I find pattern testers?

What should I ask my testers?
